More suspensions in Atlantic Hockey

by Amy Moritz

Atlantic Hockey issued its first multi-game suspension of the season when it gave Sacred Heart sophomore goalie Alex Vazzano two games for his actions against Air Force on Saturday.

Vazzano was given a major for contact fo the head and a game misconduct at 1:37 of the second period against the Falcons. Atlantic Hockey viewed Vazzano's actions as "both dangerous and flagrant." He will sit the Sacred Heart's next two games -- which come next weekend when the Pioneers host Niagara.

Also among the suspension releases today was one given to RIT sophomore Dan Schuler. Schuler was given a major for charging in the second period of the Tiger's game with Army on Friday. Atlantic Hockey ruled that Schuler "could have and should have avoided contact with the Army goalie" in issuing the supplemental discipline.

Schuler received one game which means he sits against Niagara when RIT visits Dwyer Arena on Friday.
