Eliza Hopkins, a student at Buffalo Seminary, was the winner of Buffalo's ninth annual Shakespeare Competition, held at the Saturn Club on Feb. 11. Hopkins, who wowed the crowd and judges with her performance of several lines from "Richard III" and Shakespeare's sonnet 103, will travel to New York City's Lincoln Center on April 22 to compete at the national level of the competition, sponsored by the English-Speaking Union. Hopkins is pictured above, third from left, in a photo of this year's local competitors. Judges for the local competition included Bob Swados, Audre Bunis, Dan Shanahan and Vincent O'Neill.
