Joyce Stilson and Darryl Hart star in the Alleyway Theatre production of "Voice Lessons."
The Alleyway Theatre, fresh off what may have been its final production of its annual short play festival "Buffalo Quickies," is delving into a lighthearted piece of theater. Justin Tanner’s 2009 play "Voice Lessons," which opens today (April 5) at the Alleyway (1 Curtain Up Alley), centers on a community theater actress with aspirations (and delusions) of grandeur who tries to buy her way to success on the stage.
That actress, played here by Joyce Stilson in a production directed by Alleyway founder Neal Radice, hires a voice coach (Darryl Hart) to help her career, but things don’t work out quite as planned. Tanner’s previous work includes the plays "Zombie Attack!", "Pot Mom," "Oklahomo!" and "Wife Swappers."
Tickets are $13 to $25, with more info at 852-2600 or www.alleyway.com.
