Camerata di Sant' Antonio performs Mozart, Medelssohn and Molinelli

The Three B’s, they’ve been done. Make room for the three M’s. The Camerata di Sant’ Antonio, the chamber orchestra in residence at St. Anthony of Padua Church (160 Court St.), pays homage today (May 6) to Mozart, Mendelssohn and Molinelli.

Feng Hew, the associate principal cellist of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, will be the soloist in the
American premiere of Roberto Molinelli’s "Twin Legends," for cello and string orchestra. "Twin Legends" is a lyrical, evocative piece that sounds at times like something out of a movie. It has a beautiful slow section and a cello part that can call to mind great jazz swing players like Stephane Grappellie.

To round out the concert, Camerata Music Director Christopher Weber is conducting two lovely pieces for strings, Mozart’s "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" and Mendelssohn’s Sinfonia No. 2.

The concert takes place at 7 p.m. Sunday (May 6). Weather permitting, there will be champagne outside before the concert. A reception will follow. Tickets are $17. For info, call 854-2563.
