Buzz building around 'Illuminate AK'

The internet is all Twitter-pating with anticipation for the Albright-Knox Art Gallery's upcoming "Illuminate AK" event, which will feature what the gallery is calling "Western New York's first large-scale 3D projection map." According to the gallery's website, the projections include rare images from its collection and will tell the story of the institution's 150 years.It's scheduled for Oct. 5 during the gallery's First Fridays event, with two viewings of the projection at 7:30 and 8:30 p.m.

3D projection mapping has become increasingly popular as an advertising medium in recent years, with impressive examples popping up everywhere from Montreal grain elevators to Moment Factory's work for Madonna's Super Bowl performance:
