A full house - and then some - turned out for Saturday's "Healing Mary Moser" benefit at the Town Ballroom. The event - which sought to raise money to cover medical expenses for the Moser family, as Mary has been in a coma since July of 2013, after suffering a head injury during a fall - found members of the local music community gathering to show their love for Mary and her husband Bruce, prominent members of our music scene for the past three decades-plus.
The music started at 7 p.m. and continued until past midnight. Highlights included an inspired solo set from the Tragically Hip's Gord Downie - which numbered amongst its slections a transcednent take on the Hip's "Bobcaygeon" - as well as a heart-rending song composed and performed in Mary's honor by David Miller of Dive House Union and composer/arranger/pianist Richie English.
