Amanda McDonald Crowley, executive director of Eyebeam, New York City's non-profit art and technology center, will explore some of the work artists are doing on food and sustainability issues in a talk on Thursday, April 1, at the Burchfield Penney Art Center.
As Crowley describes her topic on the Eyebeam site:
I'll be speaking about "Food in the City", the recent research focus of Eyebeam's Sustainability Research Group, and presenting a range of our inspirations: artists who have been working on projects as diverse as urban farming, food mapping, and eating in an art context.
Food in the City is an initiative which will bring together media artists, cooks, environmentalists and food activists to embrace technological innovation and environmental, sustainable and regenerative concerns consistent with green and open source ventures and sustainability.
Scheduled for 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., it's part of UB artist Stefani Bardin's Food and Emerging Media Speaker Series.
