Will you have the 15-course black truffle tour de force? Six courses from a four-star
Hamburg gem? Or dinner of traditional Burmese favorites, prepared by a recent immigrant?
Before dinner planning turns to turkey and Tofurkey, here's a few special menus to
consider. Reservations required.
The truffle feast, "Luxury and Excess," might be the richest menu of the year. On Sun.,
Nov. 13 at 6 p.m., at Seabar (475 Ellicott St. 332-2928) Steve Gedra of Bistro Europa and Mike
Andrzejewski of Seabar will offer plates like Carpaccio of Kobe Beef with Truffle Crisps, Egg
Raviolo in Truffled Brodo, and Truffle Roast Suckling Pig Porcetta.
Cost: $195 including wine and tip.
At Daniel's(174 Buffalo St., Hamburg 648-6554), Daniel Johengen offers an autumn tasting
menu at 5 p.m. the next two Sundays, Nov. 13 and Nov. 20.
It includes Butternut Squash Ravioli with dried cherries and sage brown butter; Steamed Cod
with Brussels sprouts leaves, bacon and pink peppercorn sauce; and Braised Beef Short Ribs
with potato puree, roasted cauliflower and red wine sauce.
With wine pairings, it's $95 plus tax and tip.
At O'Connell's American Bistro (981 Kenmore Ave. Kenmore), people can try authentic Burmese
food on Nov. 13 through a dinner prepared by Khin San Wai, a Burmese refugee.
Organized by Dinner With Danger's Michael Bernhardt, ticket proceeds will go to Journey's
End Refugee Services once ingredient costs are subtracted, Bernhardt said.
