In case you didn't know it, M&T Bank Corp. CEO Robert Wilmers really does know how to make fun of himself. But much of the public only sees it once a year … at the M&T shareholders meeting.
"Like many of you, I'm concerned about global warming, so I'm going to keep this short," the longtime leader of the Buffalo-based bank quipped in opening this month's meeting.
Moments later, before his annual address, he reminded everyone that they, too, have a job to do. And he asked for their help.
"My role is to give a speech. Yours is to listen," he joked dryly. "If you finish before I do, please raise your hands."
