It's a question that is always discussed but will never be answered to everyone's satisfaction: What makes a story worthy of Page One treatment?
This time the question revolved around the story about the DNA tests that proved that Larry Birkhead is the father of Anna Nicole Smith's baby.
We know it's not as important as the war in Iraq or even as relevant as the upcoming construction work on Transit Road (also on Page One), which will affect thousands of commuters. But interest also is a pretty good benchmark of news, and like it or not, a lot of folks were interested to see how this saga played out. That's why it was on Page One.
