No word yet on L'Affaire Laffey

The Aaron Laffey intrigue continues to build. There's no official word yet on any callup to Cleveland although that was clearly how things looked Sunday in Dunn Tire Park. There are really only two scenarios I can figure:

---The Tribe has worked a trade and Laffey is being called up to replace whoever is leaving, so he had to be relieved to prevent an injury that could have disrupted the trade. Cliff Lee and Victor Martinez had a dugout and clubhouse confrontation Saturday night. Could Lee be on the move?

---Struggling Fernando Cabrera has been placed on waivers and Laffey can't be put on the Cleveland roster until Cabrera is either claimed or clears waivers and can then be sent to Buffalo.

Indians officials were putting all kinds of bizarre spin on Laffey Sunday night in Texas. They said he was pulled in the third inning because of normal pitch-count limitations (wrong -- he threw just 48 pitches and averaged 98 his last eight starts!). Then they said the Bisons needed him for another doubleheader (silly because the next one is tonight). Then they said he was pulled because he had already warmed up before Saturday night's postponement (strike three -- no one warmed up Saturday).

So we're still waiting.
