Live from Dunn Tire Park's rehab clinic

Victor Martinez's day against Lehigh Valley at Dunn Tire Park:

One out in the first against Pigs starter J.A Happ: Hard-luck first inning for Martinez. In the top of the inning, his first throw on rehab indirectly cost the Herd three runs. With one out and the bases loaded, starter John Halama fielded a grounder and threw home for the force to start what appeared to be a inning-ending double play. But Martinez had to skip around the hitter's bat on the ground and his throw went wide left. A couple more Pigs hits -- one by former Tribe favorite Mike Rouse -- and the Herd was behind, 4-0. Then, in the bottom of the inning, with Josh Barfield at second after lining a double to right, Martinez's 0-2 pop up was put away as sprinting first baseman Mike Cervenak made an over-the-shoulder catch near the right-field bullpen.

Two outs in the third against Happ: Martinez lined a 1-2 pitch into the left-field gap for a stand-up double and jogged home on Michael Aubrey's ensuing double to left.

One out in the fifth against Happ: Martinez followed Barfield's fly out with a six-pitch walk. The catcher's throws down to second, by the way, have looked strong before innings.

Two outs in the seventh against Pigs reliever Travis Blackley: Lehigh Valley isn't exactly doing its part to help Martinez's rehab effort. Blackley just walked Martinez on five pitches, and none of them were all that close. Barfield finished his day at 1 for 4 with a double.

One out in the ninth against Pigs reliever Matt Childers: Martinez strikes out on a high, 2-2 fastball to finish 1 for 3 with a pair of walks.
