The Mets finished a winless and plainly awful homestand with Wednesday afternoon's loss to the Nationals at Citi Field. Then they hopped a plane and headed West to open an 11-game road trip. On the docket in the opener tonight at Arizona -- the major-league debut for former Bisons ace Matt Harvey.
The game starts at 9:40 and will be on SNY. Harvey, of course, blew up in his final outing for the Bisons last Saturday night and the prevailing theory is that he was clearly distracted by all the talk about a promotion.
Harvey threw a bullpen session for the Mets when he arrived at Citi Field on Monday and then met the voracious-for-info New York media. The Mets admitted they timed his debut to be on the road to cut down on media and friends-and-family distractions for Harvey, a Connecticut native who played at the University of North Carolina.
Here's an update on Harvey SNY taped a couple of weeks ago during a visit to Coca-Cola Field.
