Jose Reyes will get a break from the field today, spending his third day in Buffalo as the designated hitter for the Bisons as they host Durham at 1:05 p.m. (Radio 1520).
Reyes, with the Herd on his Major League Rehabilitation tour, started the last two games at shortstop going 3 for 8 (.375) with three runs scored and a stolen base. He has been on the disable dlist since suffering an ankle injury with the Toronto Blue Jays on April 12.
The original plan called for three games, though after Saturday night's game, Reyes said he did not know of the timetable for him to rejoin the Jays.
Ryan Goins returns to shortstop today with Mike McCoy moving back to second. Mauro Gomez will play third base today with Jim Negrych getting the day off.
Redmond gets fourth start: Todd Redmond takes the mouns for his fourth start with the Herd. He is 2-1 with a 7.46 ERA. His last start on Monday was his best of the season, giving up two runs on five hits in six innings to pick up the win against Gwinnett, his former team.
Gomez homers, at home: Mauro Gomez belted a pair of home runs for the Herd on Saturday, his fourth two-homer game of the season. It brings his season total to 21, just two behind Hickory's Ryan Rue for the most in minor league baseball. But the interesting note: Just six of his 21 home runs have been at Coca-Cola Field.
