Bisons rally falls short

by Amy Moritz

The Buffalo Bisons had the bases loaded with no outs in the ninth inning, but the Herd could only get one across, dropping a 7-6 decision to the Toledo Mud Hens in front of 9,102 at Coca-Cola Field Sunday afternoon.

Toledo had taken a 7-5 lead in the seventh inning. In the ninth, Anthony Gose led off with a single followed by a double from Kevin Pillar and a walk drawn by Munenori Kawasaki.

Mauro Gomez singled to shallow left to score Gose, but Jim Negrych struck out and Andy LaRoche hit into a double play.

The Bisons got a three-run home run from Ryan Goins in the fourth. Gomez had two RBI, driving in run sin the first and fifth on ground outs.

Chien-Ming Wang (5-6) took the loss. Of his six runs, only four were earned, while he gave up nien hits with four strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings of work.

The Herd begins a four-game series with Columbus on Monday at 7:05 p.m.
