Herd wins Game 1

Andy LaRoche went 3-for-3 with an RBI as the Buffalo Bisons defeated the Syracuse Chiefs, 6-2, in the first game of a doubleheader at Coca-Cola Field Sunday afternoon.

The win ends a four-game losing skid for the Bisons. The second game, which will feature the Bisons' debut of righty Chien-Ming Wang, will begin at 3:25.

The Herd jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a blast by Kevin Pillar The Bisons added another run on an RBI single from Eugenio Velez for a 3-0 lead.

 In the third, Will Rhymes cut the lead to 3-2 with his own two-run shot on a home run to right field that just kept carrying and carrying and carrying until it just cleared the wall.

 The Herd got those runs back in the third when Anthony Gose drove in two runs with a two-out bases-loaded single. A single in the fifth from LaRoche added another run and the Herd had a comfortable 6-2 lead.

Buffalo scored its six runs on nine hits.

Dave Bush pitched a complete seven-inning game, giving up two runs on five hits. He struck out eight and walked one to pick up the win and improve to 8-6.
