Free screenings offered today for World Kidney Day
SOUTH BUFFALO -- Free kidney screenings will be offered today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Tosh Collins Community Center on Cazenovia Street to mark World Kidney Day.
Sponsored by the National Kidney Foundation of Western New York, the program is targeting individuals with high blood pressure or diabetes, or who have a family history of these or kidney disease.
Twenty-six million Americans are affected by chronic kidney disease, according to the organization.
Participants will receive a urinalysis, blood pressure check and a blood test to determine their kidney function score. A free and confidential report will be sent to patients in four to six weeks.
