Eight homes open for Linwood Avenue tour

2:55 p.m.: BUFFALO -- Linwood Avenue resident James Mack wants to shed a perception that residents in Buffalo are "living under siege."

"We have these beautiful houses and these beautiful neighborhoods," Mack said. "So we wanted to showcase our neighborhood for people that might not understand the quality of life that we have here in Buffalo."

Mack is one of eight homeowners in Buffalo's Linwood Avenue neighborhood who opened their doors today as part of the fourth Historic Linwood Tour of Homes.

Mack's home, a three-story Queen Anne, was built in 1893.

The tour runs from noon to 4:30 p.m. today. Tickets were $23 and available at the Art Dialogue Gallery, 1 Linwood Ave.

More than 700 people took the biennial tour the last time it was held in 2008, organizers said.
