The Sabres will close their regular season at 5 p.m. today in New Jersey against the Devils, but the postseason is just days away with Buffalo facing off in its first playoff game Wednesday or Thursday.
The date of the first postseason game is yet to be determined since the Sabres' first round opponent and position in the Eastern Conference standings are not final.
Buffalo is one point behind the Devils and will take the No. 2 seed if it can defeat New Jersey in regulation.
The No. 3 seed will play No. 6 seed Boston and the No. 2 seed will face the No. 7 seed.
The seventh and eighth seeds will be determined when the New York Rangers play Philadelphia at 3 p.m. today. Montreal would earn the seventh spot with a Rangers victory, while a Flyers win would earn them the No. 7 spot.
