'Price is Right' to feature Niagara Falls

People Drew Carey Niagara Falls is about to get a little game show exposure.

A contestant on "The Price is Right" will get the chance to win a seven-day, six-night vacation package featuring the Barton Hill Hotel and Spa in Lewiston and local attractions throughout Niagara County in an episode set to air Friday.

The vacation package is one of three pitched by the Niagara Tourism & Convention Corp. after producers of the show reached out to the marketing organization.

John Percy, NTCC's president and CEO, said the episode will help give national exposure to attractions on the U.S. side of the border.

Local attractions and hotels have for years tried to get visitors to extend their day trips to overnight stays.

"There is so much to see and do; we always stress that," Percy said. "That's our biggest challenge. This gives us the opportunity to say, 'Yes, you can come here for an extended period of time.'"

The vacation package is one of three that will be featured on "The Price is Right" this year. The other two packages will include stays at The Giacomo Hotel and the Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel in Niagara Falls.

Friday's episode will air at 11 a.m. on CBS.

The vacation package will also include stops in Niagara Falls State Park, the Lockport Locks, the Niagara Wine Trail, Old Fort Niagara, Rainbow Air Helicopter Tours and the Whirlpool Jet Boats.

No word on whether it will make the Showcase Showdown.

"It will be a surprise for all of us," Percy said.
