- A new poll by Quinnipiac University released this morning shows Republican Carl Paladino is within six points of Democrat Andrew Cuomo in the race for governor, Tom Precious of the News Albany Bureau reports.

- A lawyer who admitted Tuesday to stealing $2.7 million from his clients used the money to pay for his Orchard Park home on Woodcrest Drive, prosecutors said. Personal-injury and real estate attorney Kenneth P. Bernas pleaded guilty in State Supreme Court on Tuesday to 33 felony counts, News Staff Reporters Stephen T. Watson and Matt Gryta report.

- Eight months after suffering a spinal cord injury in a car accident, Mike Robitaille plans to return as an MSG Network analyst during the Sabres' Oct. 8 season opener in Ottawa, The News' Greg Connors writes.
