BUFFALO -- The former head of the Buffalo & Erie County Arts Council was sentenced this morning to five years of probation for embezzling money from the council.
Celeste L. Lawson told reporters after her court appearance that the missing funds were not related to a gambling addiction.
"When you love a community and you love what you do, it's very difficult to be charged with not caring about that and acting in inappropriate ways," Lawson told reporters.
