Morning Roundup: Monday, Jan. 3

Good morning.

The day will bring a chance of snow showers in the Buffalo area, with a high near 32. The National Weather Service has issued a lake-effect snow advisory for parts of southern Erie County and the Southern Tier until 10 a.m. this morning.

Here's a look at a few of the latest headlines:

- Team USA will face off against Canada at 7:30 p.m. tonight at HSBC Arena in the 2011 World Junior semifinals.

- Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo is scheduled to give his first State of the State address on Wednesday and has said he will unveil the foundation of his plan for dealing with the state's projected $10 billion deficit, writes Tom Precious of the News Albany Bureau.

- The Bills wrapped up a dismal season Sunday with a 38-7 loss to the New York Jets. The Bills finished with their worst record since 2001, writes News Sports Reporter Mark Gaughan.
