Buffalo Tracks -- May 19

In a world where things are a mere Google search away, people and places with local ties pop up on many corners of the web.

People who used to live in the Buffalo area, as well as others who still call this place home, have a habit of making news elsewhere. On an occasional basis, Buffalo News Live will highlight these Buffalonians, whether they're gone or they're still here.

Here's the latest edition of Buffalo Tracks:

 Tacoma, WA

A former Buffalo-area resident has written a children's book about a wheelchair-bound crime fighter. Dave Carl recently had a signing for his new book in Richland, Wash., according to The News Tribune.

Home

A Buffalo man traveled to Florida to help his parents rebuild after a tornado struck. Frank Coheley went to Ohatchee, Fla., where copper thieves were active in areas of damaged homes, The Anniston Star reports.

A 92-year-old woman who went to high school in Buffalo has earned her GED in North Carolina. Loretta Patton quit school at 17, but recently got her degree from Cleveland Community College, according to The Star newspaper.

Clevelandplaindealerlogo

A Buffalo man won a half-marathon in Cleveland on Sunday. It was David Keenan's first entry into such a race, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Canton

A former Buffalo resident was recently named to the hall of fame in Canton, Mich., where he moved 26 years ago. Karl Zarbo was honored for his community service, according to the Canton Observer.
