Video: Surveillance cameras help solve shooting cases
September 3, 2011 - 2:47 PM
Buffalo Mayor Byron W. Brown and Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda used a news conference in the University District on Friday to highlight Buffalo's crime camera surveillance network. The city now has 125 surveillance cameras stationed throughout the city, and Brown hopes to eventually expand the network.
The mayor said one incident earlier this summer involved a camera that caught an image of a man shooting a gun at Bailey near Berkshire and Stockbridge. Weeks later, a camera at another Kensington location captured the suspect being shot. Police caught the man and the person who is accused of shooting him.
