Lawmakers propose state hazardous waste disposal tax
State lawmakers introduced a bill earlier this month that would tax hazardous waste landfilled at CWM Chemical Services in Porter.
The proposal estimates the creation of an additional $3 million in annual revenue, 10 percent of which would come to the Niagara County Health Department.

There already is a tax on hazardous waste assessed on Generators in NYS. Now the Legislature wants to tax the disposal as well?
If you want industry to do the right thing, you must make it feasible to comply.

I find it interesting that the bill will lower taxes on companies that GENERATE the hazardous waste in NY state, and increase it the same exact amount per ton on the company that landfills it. Shouldn't the ones who generate the hazardous waste be the ones to pay more? They are the start of the problem after all, are they not?

It's great that they come up with this law, knowing that this hazardous waste is one of the environmental problem nowadays.
