My favorites
Everybody eats. So as food editor and restaurant reviewer for The News, I never lack for conversation. It seeks me out.
The most common: "What's your favorite restaurant?" And the answer: the same as yours, no doubt, "I don't know."
You've probably noticed that your favorite depends on the the mood of the moment -- so does mine. If I want upscale comfort food I'd probably opt for Rue Franklin or Oliver's. If I want more innovative stuff I'd probably visit the new contemporary sushi places like Sea Bar or Wasabi. If I really want to revel in Western New York, I might go to La Nova (but only for the barbecued chicken wings) or Schwabl's for beef on weck.
