What's behind Jack Davis' new 'consultants'?

WASHINGTON -- Jack Davis has some new political "consultants" -- and they just so happen to be the wives of the two men who will decide who gets the Independence Party's nomination for Congress in the 26th District.

Davis calls them "consultants," and both he and Erie County Independence Chairman Anthony L. Orsini, husband of one of the "consultants," denied any impropriety.

It's funny. We have plenty of these "consultants" here in Washington, and here, it's a code name for one of two things:

   "Political hack."

   And "recently laid off."

But maybe "consultant" means something different in Western New York; I don't know. So fill me in: What, in this particular case, does the term "consultant" really mean?

Where's the front page story about Powers? Didn't he use personal funds to pay for his apartment? Now that's a political hack.

Where did you guys get the idea for this story? I posted this yesterday afternoon at 2:35 pm:

Seen Enough

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck then its a duck.

Davis just lost my vote in any further election. And until there's a change at the Independence Party that line also has lost my support.

The Independence Party is a joke. Their motto seems to be: We're corrupt, so what, and we don't care who knows it, so stick it.

Martin Van Buren

Powers funneled $1,500 to Orsini's "Friends of Tony Orsini" account to try to buy the party line. What the heck is the difference? Powers is a hypocrite and doesn't know anything about "leading by example".

@Van Buren:

$1500 to Orsini directly for his fundraiser - where there is complete transparency for the donation/receipt, is not at all equal to $10,000 paid in an evasive, surreptitious way to Orsini's wife's company and Colon's wife under her maiden name.

But thanks so much for playing.

And I'm still waiting for an explanation from the Buffalo News as to why I wasn't cited in any way in its reporting on this issue. I link to the News, I can't fathom why it wouldn't cite me when it lifts a story idea from my site.

Jack

Has the News not learned from the Joel Giambra administeration what "friends and family" mean"? Of course the relationships are corruptive of the political process, but let's be sure the "consultants" are classified as independent contractors and pay all due taxes as any self-employed.
