The City of Buffalo's Department of Public Works has made a number of hires in the last month or so.
In the Streets Division, Michael Murphy was promoted to head exterminator, a post that carries a $45,723 starting salary. Murphy was previously an exterminator in the department, earning $36,119.
Michael Edwards was hired as a truck driver, with a starting salary of $22,468.
In the Water Division, Cecelia Folmar was hired as a clerk, which carries a $30,507 starting salary.
In the Buildings Division, James Legrand was promoted from seasonal laborer to permanent laborer. His starting salary is $31,221.
Also in Buildings, Louis Eze, Patrick McParlane, Dewitt Overton Jr. and James Wozniak were hired as temporary senior first class stationary engineers. Each will earn $15 an hour.
In the Engineering Division, Christopher Beard was promoted from seasonal laborer to permanent laborer. That post carries a starting salary of $22,423.
In the Parking Department's Division of Parking Enforcement, Philip J. Marino Jr. was hired as a laborer at a starting salary of $22,423. In the same division, Donald F. Kane Jr. was hired as a seasonal laborer at $11.87 an hour.
In Majority Leader Demone A. Smith's office, Phyllis Harris was hired as a paid intern, at a rate of $12.06 an hour. Harris previously worked in Smith's office as a paid intern at $10 an hour.
David Hensley and Jacqueline Rucinski were each hired as paid interns in the City Clerk's Office, at a pay rate of $12.06 an hour. Rucinski had previously worked as a paid intern.
The Buffalo Sewer Authority hired Peter Cicero as a treatment plant operator at an hourly rate of $16.89. The hire was effective Feb. 13.
The sewer authority also hired Michael Chapman II as a seasonal laborer at a rate of $95 per day.
