Jeremy J. Zellner wasted no time in getting to work on Monday following his Saturday election as chairman of the Erie County Democratic Party.
The new party boss was in Albany for the re-organization meeting of the state committee at the Albany Labor Temple, where Syracuse Mayor Stephanie A. Miner and Assemblyman Keith L.T. Wright of Manhattan were slated to be re-elected as co-chairmen.
Zellner said he also was looking to check in with state party figures instrumental in driving out his old boss, former Chairman Leonard R. Lenihan, whom he once served as executive director.
"My hope is we move forward," he said. "We have a great opportunity here to not be fighting with the mayor and work with the governor and the state party to strengthen the organization."
Zellner said he is aware that his rival for the chairmanship -- Cheektowaga Chairman Frank C. Max Jr. -- is challenging the results of Saturday's election in court.
"He and I got the results together Saturday," he said. "I shook his hand and said 'Let's work together.
"He said "We'll see.' "
