Good morning,
Today will be a busy one in City Hall, as a popular restaurant with Syracuse roots and a retail space at Wegmans goes before the Planning Board, while the Council hears about development in the Fruit Belt and food trucks.
Here's a look:
Dinosaur Bar-B-Que will unveil its plan for a Buffalo location at 310 301 Franklin St. during a Planning Board meeting at 8:15 a.m. today in Room 901. The building was used for film storage, and the restaurant would like to add a covered patio and area for a meat smoker.
Also on the board's agenda are:
* Plans for 50 one-bedroom senior apartments at 907 E. Ferry St., on the property of True Bethel Baptist Church.
* Wegmans' plans to add a 15,000-square-foot retail store at its Amherst Street location. The company would like to lease the store to a wine and liquor retailer. The board was poised to approve the site plan at its meeting Feb. 26, but North Council Member Joseph Golombek requested that it be tabled for two weeks for further community input.
* Plans for a 400-square-foot addition to 455 Delaware Ave., a property set back from the street on the southeast corner of Virginia, and about a model energy-efficient home at 941 Washington St., part of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus.
The Common Council's committees also meet today in Council Chambers.
At 9:45 a.m., the Civil Service Committee will hear firefighter union officials discuss concerns about staffing levels at fires.
The Community Development Committee will hear from stakeholders involved in development in the Fruit Belt when it meets at 1 p.m. Ellicott Council Member Darius Pridgen is proposing the creation of a Fruit Belt Neighborhood Advisory Council, which will advise lawmakers on development in the Fruit Belt. The first meeting is at noon on April 22 in Room 1417.
The Legislation Committee is expected to debate food truck fees at 2 p.m., as the ordinance governing the trucks ends on April 1.
