Today at 1 p.m., Mayor Byron Brown will give an update of his Hire Buffalo program, which encourages businesses to hire an unemployed city resident.
At 2 p.m., the Common Council will meet for a caucus to discuss the agenda for tomorrow's meeting, where a focus on a scrap metal recycling facility in the West Hertel neighborhood is expected. There has been much lobbying around this issue in City Hall, with Adam and Kim Weitsman of Upstate Shredding on one side and Niagara Metals and some neighbors on another. A vote on whether to grant Kim Weitsman the licenses to operate a scrap metal recycling facility at 409 Hertel Ave. will happen tomorrow.

And late last week, the Atlantic Cities posted a story about Larkinville's revitalization of an old neighborhood, and the instrumental role First Niagara played in the success of the development.
"Interacting with my fellow executives around town, there’s a bit of envy on their part," First Niagara President and CEO John Koelmel told the site.
