Republican mayoral candidate Sergio Rodriguez released a five-page economic development plan today, emphasizing greater hiring opportunities for women and minorities.
He continued to press his case that the construction around town is not helping people in neighborhoods and said he would make sure that hiring "goals" for women and minorities would be turned into requirements in his admininstration.
Mayor Byron Brown has said that he is vigilant in making sure that minorities and women are included in city projects, and is known to speak out on this issue on boards for organizations outside city government.
Rodriguez also said his administration would push City Hall to be more friendly to residents and businesses, with personal advocates who would help would-be entrepreneurs. Other ideas include expanding wi-fi in the city, making city data publicly available and increasing recycling.
