Environmental groups can't quite agree on Grisanti

By Tom Precious

ALBANY -– Apparently, the environmental lobby can be a diverse group when it comes to its political assessments.

Days after a statewide environmental group gave a sour rating to Sen. Mark Grisanti, a Buffalo Republican who heads the Senate’s environmental conservation committee, other environmental groups are poised this week to praise the senator’s record this past session.

In the Albany game where timing is everything, a group of environmental organizations are set to honor Grisanti on Wednesday at the Buffalo waterfront to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the state’s Environmental Protection Fund.

On Tuesday, sources said, The New York League of Conservation Voters, another statewide organization, is expected to name Grisanti as one of their “eco-stars’’ for 2013.

On the other side, the EPL/Environmental Advocates last week said it was giving Grisanti a score of 42 out of 100 for his environmental positions this past session.
