An influential group of labor leaders is slated to endorse Democratic county comptroller candidate Kevin P. Gaughan today during an afternoon press conference.
The Western New York Labor Federation (AFL-CIO), the region's largest labor organization, cited much of Gaughan's past record on behalf of good government.
"With great courage, Kevin has stood up to politicians and demanded that government better serve average citizens," said federation President Richard Lipsitz. "And we know that he will employ his considerable energy and intellect to defend public employees, and to secure for them the best pay and benefit packages."
Michael Hoffert, president of the Buffalo AFL-CIO, and Palu Schuh, local director of the United Auto Workers, were also scheduled to make remarks in an event at Jericho Road Ministries, 184 Barton St.
