Halloween Costumania!

For those of you who are Halloween freaks, you've probably got your costume all picked out and hanging in your closet ready to go for the big night...

But some of us aren't quite sure what we'll be. And it's not like the old days when you were a 16-year-old trick-or-treater who wouldn't hang up the pillowcase -- you can't just throw on a flannel shirt and call yourself a hobo...

No, adult costume parties mean creativity and timely costumes. Perusing the Top Seller lists at some on-line mega-stores, such as Amazon and Party City, there seems to be some trends for sure. As always, Hollywood dictates much of what we wear to the costume party down the street, or what we send our little ones out into the night wearing in search of candy goodness.

What are the early top sellers?

The movie-inspired costumes seem to point to 2007's blockbusters: Transformers, Pirates of the Caribbean, Spiderman, Harry Potter. Also big from the small screen: Hannah Montana and High School Musical are surprising top sellers. Old stand-bys like witches, fairies and mermaids for girls; firemen, policemen and ninjas for boys. And for the infants: cows, monkeys and dinosaurs.

My personal favorite is the costume inspired by the innovative, computer-generated commercials for Burger King (pictured at left) , in which the Burger King is inserted into various scenes of sports action.

Of course, you wouldn't catch me dead in it. But I have to admit it was something that I laughed at!

Do your kids have any wild costume ideas this year?

What are you planning to go to the parties dressed as this year?
