Morning Links: West's mom died after plastic surgery
According to TMZ, a plastic surgeon by the name of Dr. Jan Adams has come forward to say that he performed the publicized cosmetic surgery for Kanye West's mother, Donda West. Dr. Adams says he performed a breast reduction and tummy tuck, finally after she flip-flopped over the decision for months.
In fact, TMZ also reported that a second plastic surgeon says that he refused to do the procedures on West's mother due to a pre-existing health condition. But Dr. Adams insists that he that he did nothing wrong, and that her death could have been associated with other health problems. He speculates her death may have been associated to a heart attack, pulmonary embolism or excessive vomiting.
Kanye West issued a statement, and asks fans to make a donation instead of sending flowers.

With the popularity of plastic surgery in society, I'm surprised we don't hear more about these kinds of surgeries that go wrong. Whether it's open heart or plastic surgery, there is still risk involved. The notion that a cosmetic surgery is safer is a false one. Granted, it's much safer than a valve replacement but it's still not something I would choose to have done. The best medicine is, has and always will be eat right and exercise.
