Pop Quiz: What do you plan to do for Lent?

For some Christians, Lent is like a second New Year -- a time to re-evaluate habits and commitments, a time to examine your spiritual journey and takes steps to make life more meaningful.

For others, it's just 40 days without chocolate. Or, worse yet, 41 days this year because it's a Leap Year!

We knew we'd find people who'd given some thought to Lent at the Broadway Market, where the heart of Buffalo tradition still beats strongly. And sure enough, the paczki (poosh-KEY, traditional Polish jelly doughnuts eaten the day before Ash Wednesday) were flying off the shelves at E.M. Chrusciki Bakery.

Since we asked the question on Tuesday, many people said, "I'm eating paczki, that's what I'm  doing!" not having turned their thoughts to the somber themes of Ash Wednesday and Lent.

What about you? Are you giving something up, or adding a devotion or a charitable act to your routine?
