Morning Links: Steven Tyler checks into rehab
TMZ is reporting that Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler has checked himself into a substance abuse program at the Las Encinas Hospital rehab center, where celeb-doc Dr. Drew Pinsky, of TV's "Celebrity Rehab," practices. Tyler's representative, however, tells People, EOnline, among other media sources that he was unaware of Tyler's admission to the program.
There is speculation that Tyler's slip may be the result of him trying to keep up with his new 30-year-old girlfriend, who apparently has a partying reputation. Others speculate that he may have become hooked on pain-killers after having throat surgery, two foot surgeries and months of treatment for hepatitis C.
Tyler and Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry had a reputation in the 1980s for alcohol and drug abuse, which earned them the nickname the "Toxic Twins."
