Morning Links: Heigl to Emmys: Don't vote for me
Katherine Heigl of "Grey's Anatomy" withdrew her name from the Emmy race, according to an interview with the LA Times. Heigl chose not enter her name for consideration because she was unhappy with how her character was minimized this season, and the lack of a quality storyline on the hit ABC show, and didn't believe the body of work was good enough to warrant a submission.
"I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination, and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention. ... I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials," Heigl said.
Heigl was a surprise winner for "Best supporting actress in a drama" last year. Nominations will be announced on July 17.
