Morning Links: Bio says Britney tried suicide twice

In a yet-to-be-released biography of Britney Spears, writer Ian Halperin claims she attempted suicide twice. The author says he spent 18 months as "an undercover photographer," spoke with her many times and went to her house. Of the suicide attempt, "I know all the details about both of them," he claims.

Britney has her eye on a new places in Calabasas -- an enormous mansion called "Chateau Suenos" or "House of Dreams." She got the green light from the commissioner who oversees her affairs to put her Studio City house up for sale.

People.com reports that Britney will head back to Louisiana this week to be present when sister Jamie Lynn, 17, gives birth. The girls' father and their brother Bryan are also expected to be with Jamie-Lynn when she delivers the baby she's expecting with fiance Casey Aldridge.

Joan Rivers, who's been reduced to doing insurance commercials, got thrown off the set of a British TV show, "Loose Women" for letting profanity fly. She used a few choice words to describe actor Russell Crowe and when the show returned from commercial break, she was gone. In a statement later, she said, "Yes, I swore, and I'm so (F-word) sorry."

Aerosmith's Steven Tyler was out of rehab and courtside for the Lakers-Celtics game Tuesday night. Sources say he's still being treated as an outpatient.

Tyler Perry had a cousin of his served with papers after the cousin, Marion Campbell, mentioned Perry's name in connection with a movie  he's making. The document accuses Campbell of  trying to imply "that Mr. Campbell is/was authorized to distribute any stage plays or other productions of Mr. Perry."

A 12-year-old fan from Wisconsin put the arm on Johnny Depp for the fedora he was wearing when the two met. The star promised he'd send it along when he was finished with it, but it took a letter from the kid's parents to get Depp to cough up the cap.

Vonzell Solomon, the "American Idol" third-place finisher who was caught with a gun in her bag at a Florida airport, issued a statement saying she "in no way intended to enter the plane with a firearm." Baby V says she was rushing to make her flight and didn't realize she was packing till her bag went through security.

It may be more than the mortgage crisis that's pushing Ed McMahon onto the street -- his wife reportedly has run up some $750,000 in American Express bills. Ed and Pamela were married 16 years ago.

George Takei -- Mr. Sulu of "Star Trek" and his longtime partner Brad Altman were among the gay California couples who lined up to get marriage licenses Tuesday morning. The wedding is set for Sept. 14. They were the first couple to receive a license from West Hollywood.
