25 years of "A Christmas Story": Day 2
What more could we ask for? A momentarily up Dow! Fresh tapes of Nixon proving he was even more of a thug than we ever dreamed! Congress appparently starting to grow a collective pair -- plus a nice cozy snowstorm for Day 2 of our 25-day wallow in "A Christmas Story," in honor of its 25th anniversary!
Today: Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon: A Christmas Story Edition. Let's start with the obvious and see what happens. Connect these two (answers below):
Himself
& Melinda Dillion
Meanwhile: Trivia as exciting as the soft glow of electric sex gleaming in the window!
- When Scut Farkas first appears ("He had yellow eyes! So help me, God! Yellow eyes!"), the music in the background is Prokofiev's "Peter & the Wolf," since Farkas is Hungarian for "wolf."
- "A Christmas Story" was inspirational for two major TV shows: "South Park" co-founder Trey Parker created the red-haired bully Scott Tenorman in homage to Scut Farkas. And "The Wonder Years" was a direct result of ACS, according to its creators; in fact, if you ever see the final episode, take a look at Kevin's roommate: It's Peter Billingsley.

(Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon: ACS Editon answers: There are two paths here. Here's one:
Tomorrow: The other. Plus, which cast member wound up in porn? Where's that Life Buoy soap?

Wow. Buffalo News, are you spending money on this author? I can't even get through this post. Yesterday's was incoherent. What demographic is her vulgar, scattered and unfunny flight of ideas supposed to draw? It certainly isn't young and hip. And it sure is not old old me (52).
If the News wants to up reader response on Pop Stand the ideas already put forth by its regular reader/posters are good: break up the morning report, there's just too many topics to focus on. Too much dependence on links to other stories, that doesn't put meat on the bones of a post, especially for people with slow connections who don't want to do all that clicking. Finally, ask a question or pose an opinion that will engage readers in discussion and debate.
Anne, take the wheel! Please.

Nope, more than 2.
Melinda Dillon in "Absence of Malice" with Wilford Brimley, who was in "End of the Line" with Kevin Bacon.

Hahahah. Nice Libby. If you can't get through it, don't read it. And don't comment on it.
This series is written for those in their 20s and 30s who consider watching "A Christmas Story" a long standing XMAS tradition. Any Xmas gathering with friends will usually result in at least a couple quotes from this movie. At 52 you are probably too OLD to "get it". But not everything in the paper has to be written for your liking.
Considering you won't even spring for high-speed internet anyway, maybe you should stick to just reading the newspaper.

Paul R., I respectfully suggest that one does not need to like and agree with something in order to post. For the record, I love and actually own "A Christmas Story," and do enjoy my high speed Internet connection very much. Also for the record, I think I was too harsh on Lauri Githens Hatch, and I deserved Paul R.'s kind of nasty comment in return. Karma. What you give out comes back. Thanks for the lesson Paul R. No sarcasm, just...thanks. And sorry, Lauri.

Wow Libby, I don't know what to say. I totally had you pegged wrong. I wouldn't have guessed from your original post that you even liked the movie. Now I regret my "harshness."
