Morning Links: Jon Gosselin looks horrified at Octomom's 'secret crush' on him, says 'No way!' to playdate
In a perfect, bizarre convergence of notoriety, Octomom, who has a total of 14 kids, has a not-so-secret-anymore crush -- on Jon Gosselin! "I think he's hot!" she told RadarOnline. But then Nadya Suleman said that Kate shouldn't be on the market. "I don’t think any single mother of any amount of kids should start dating,” she said. But Suleman, shown at left juggling two of her unfortunate octuplets in a visit to a park, says she herself will start dating “when the kids are older.” So is Jon interested in meeting a woman with even more problems -- and kids -- than he has? "No way!" he said when asked about a 22-tot playdate. "I want to get through this divorce and focus on my kids." Gosselin said. "It's kind of weird, though."
Speaking of Kate, people have questions for her. Lots of people, LOTS of questions. Viewers have submitted some 9,000 inquiries about her family life and plans that Kate will answer during a one-hour special Monday on TLC. She will narrate memories of "Jon & Kate Plus 8" and answer the questions. Kate was supposed to continue with "Kate Plus 8" about her life as a single mom, but TLC put a stop to the show after Jon protested. EOnline suggests that the questions will be "softballs." If you'd like to chime in, post them on the TLC site.
And here's another Octomom update -- the national organization that promotes ethical standards in reproductive medicine has booted out the doctor who implanted the batch of embryos in Suleman before she gave birth to the octuplets. The American Society of Reproductive Medicine had a hearing over the summer in which Dr. Michael Kamrava presented a defense, and the organization notified Kamrava a few weeks ago he was being expelled, a spokesman told People. In the case of a single mother with six kids already a single embryo, or at the most two, should be implanted, the spokesman said.
Richard Heene, left, now being called the "Balloon Dad," was required to wear an electronic ankle monitorfor 30 days in 1997 after he pleaded no contest to vandalism, vehicle tampering and disturbing the peace after a violent encounter, RadarOnline is reporting. Heene spent four days in jail after the run-in with a man named Benito Ortiz, who demanded that Heene pay his wages after he worked for Heene, who was a contractor. He also had to pay a $100 fine and refrain from annoying anybody involved in the case, court papers show. Heene was also arrested in 1991 and charged with corporal injury on a spouse. TMZ says it appears he was not convicted in that case.
Now, the Federal Aviation Administration says they are looking into last week's Balloon Boy hoax, and TMZ.com has obtained the recording of the first 911 call made by the Heenes. In it, Richard admits he first called the FAA and asks, "Where's he at?" asks the call-taker. "He's in the air!" fake-sobs Heene. "He's in the air?" she asks.
Rihanna released her first single since being attacked by Chris Brown last February, and just as "Russian Roulette" was getting buzz, Brown grabbed the spotlight by announcing that he's doing a "Fan Appreciation Tour" to thank the people who stood by him while he was sorting out his legal issues, which is to say, pleading guilty and paying the penalty for bloodying Rihanna. The tour starts Nov. 14 in Houston and wraps up Dec. 15 in Manhattan.
Britney Spears has settled up with a photographer who was injured when the car she was driving rolled over his foot. Terms of the settlement were not revealed, but photographer Ricardo Mendoza had been seeking some $230,000.
Khloe Kardashian and husband Lamar Odom finally signed the prenuptial agreement they have been wrangling over since their hurry-up wedding in late September. TMZ reports that Lamar will keep his estimated $33 million Lakers salary and will fund a joint account and give Khloe an annual lump sum, as well as pay for the home they plan to buy.
