Morning Links: 'We Are the World' remake was 'inspired chaos'

World More than 70 singers took part in the remake of "We Are the World" yesterday in Los Angeles. None of the original performers from 1985 were invited to participate in this version. In an unusual move, 15-year-old Canadian teen pop idol Justin Bieber opens the song with the line originally sung by Lionel Richie.

A musical cross section of stars including Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Tony Bennett, Lil Wayne, Josh Groban and Carlos Santana performed. Groban called it 'inspired chaos.'

"Everybody left their ego at the door. To be smack-dab in the middle of a sandwich between Barbra Streisand and Weezy (rapper Lil Wayne) was personally a creative experience I don't think I'll ever have the pleasure of having again," Groban said.

Noticeably missing were a representation from country music, as well as some big stars such as Jay-Z and Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift, who all left L.A. immediately after the Grammys.
