Morning Links: Lindsay Lohan to miss court today; D.A. likely to push for jail time

Lindsay Lohan Lindsay Lohan will miss her court date today, as she remains stranded in Cannes. Not only has the volcanic ash been a problem for all flights out of Europe, but Lohan also claims that her passport was stolen, making it impossible for her to fly, as well. It is expected that Judge Marsha Revel will issue a bench warrant for Lohan's inability to appear in court to explain why she has not fulfilled the terms of her probation.

Lohan has managed to take just 10 alcohol education classes, out of the 13 required, and blames the shortfall on the instructor, who she says sent uncomfortable text messages asking to hang out. The remaining classes were to be completed by today, but that is unlikely to happen.

The Los Angeles district attorney's office believes that Lohan has violated the terms of her probation and that jail time is appropriate. While a bench warrant is sure to be issued today, according to TMZ, it is unlikely that the judge will order police to arrest Lohan on the spot. Instead, the judge will likely allow Lohan to turn herself in next week, if she manages to get back to the U.S. any time soon.

Re-read the American Idol chat... Idol's finalists: Lee & Crystal

UPDATE: 'American Idol' has their two finalists: Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox. After an episode filled with boyband performances and clips of hometown visits, the final minutes gave us the expected final pairing. Lee DeWyze was sent to safety first, followed by Crystal Bowersox in a little awkward announcement by Ryan Seacrest that not even Crystal was sure she was safe or going home. But it was Casey James going home, after a quick performance of John Mayer's "Daughters" which he also performed last night.

-- Dave Valenzuela

If talent-based voting and the judges and producers have their way, tonight will be the night Idol bids farewell to Casey James, the handsome rocker from Cool, Texas. It's not that he didn't do well, but last night's challenges were steep. They included the nuanced, semi-forgettable song chosen for Casey by Kara and Randy and the shameless help (backup choir, fog-accented stage, well-known and beloved song with a massive hook) given to Lee DeWyze by Simon Cowell and the producers.

Tonight's performances include one from newcomer Travis Garland, a former member of the boy band NLT, who will debut his first single, "Believe," and a taped performance by Justin Bieber, who will sing, "Baby" and "U Smile."

Join us back here from 9 to 10 p,m. to live chat as the third-place finisher goes home.

The director of the program Lindsay Lohan is attending as part of her sentence in a DUI case says she's "in program compliance," even though Lohan left the country after attending only 10 of the required 13 classes. The letter from Cherie Marshall, director of Right On programs, which was filed with the court and obtained by TMZ, says Lohan "attends regularly and consistently ... Her attitude is positive and receptive to ideas regarding lifestyle changes." Apparently nobody in the program has seen the widely published photos of Lohan falling down after late-night club visits, the most recent ones this week in Cannes. The letter says, "She has never come [to class] under the influence, been rude or disrespectful." Lohan missed attending the classes for a few weeks, violating the judge's orders that she take a class once every seven days, but the absences were for work and were excused, the letter says. Now all Lohan has to do is show up in court Thursday and she should be fine. Can she get a flight home in time?

Meanwhile, the New York Post reports that Lohan has a new girlfriend, a photographer and reality star named Indrani, also known as Julia I. Pal-Chaudhuri. The pair met in the autumn when Indrani photographed Lohan and have secretly been dating since then. Indrani told The Post, "We have been spending a lot of time together. I have never had a relationship with a woman before, but Lindsay is just somebody who I find fascinating, gorgeous and extremely smart, as well as super-hot." Indrani's business partner, Markus Klinko, said, "I've seen them on dates, I have seen them making out . . . Indrani is a good influence on Lindsay. She is the opposite of a party girl -- a Princeton graduate, she's into art and is a philanthropist -- not what you'd expect the typical girl for Lindsay to go out with. When they are together, they talk about art and the deeper meaning in life."

Arquette, who has courtside seats near the visiting team's bench, went to the assistance of the guard, but was knocked to the ground accidentally when other security people joined the fracas. Michael Roth, vice president of communications for AEG, which operates Staples Center, said, "At the end of the game, a fan came out of the stands and out on to the court. ... We approached him and asked him to leave and when he didn't want to leave, there was some force used." Other famous faces spotted in the crowd, in addition to Jack Nicholson, were Jessica Alba and her husband Cash Warren, Hilary Duff and her fiancé, Edmonton Oiler Mike Comrie, Sylvester Stallone and his 13-year-old daughter Sistine Rose, Antonio Banderas, Dustin Hoffman, Jamie Foxx, Larry David, Andy Garcia, Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea and John C.
