Daily links: Teen mom Bristol Palin says she'll insist on modest 'Dancing' costumes
Bristol Palin says "Dancing With the Stars" viewers won't see a lot of her skin in the show’s usual skimpy costumes. "I think I will be the most dressed [contestant and have] the most modest outfits for sure, because that’s who I am," she told People. Palin, 19, says she wants to set a good example for her son, Tripp, 20 months, who "loves dancing around [and] bopping his head," she says. "I see this as something that’s fun and that’s positive and I’m going to be able to show my work ethic to people out there." Palin says she is "naturally shy," and has "no experience in dance. ... But I come from an athletic background, so I’m thankful for that. [I played] basketball, volleyball, soccer, everything." The new season of the ABC show starts Sept. 20.
In her first televised interview since her split from wandering husband Jesse James, Sandra Bullock told "Today" show host Matt
Lauer that she felt strong ties to New Orleans even before her son Louie was born there. Bullock was in the Big Easy this week to celebrate the rebuilding of the Warren Easton Charter High School,
which suffered more than $4 million in damage five years ago during Hurricane Katrina. Bullock helped raise funds to rebuild the school, which has its own health
clinic and close to a 100 percent graduation rate. Bullock also said she was proud and relieved to finalize the adoption of Louie, her "little Cajun
cookie." With emotion, she said, "It was nice to have someone say, 'I think you're a fit parent.' "Bullock praised the friends and family who kept her adoption a secret while her marriage to James was publicly imploding. "It takes good people with
integrity," she said. "Human beings exist that have integrity, that know how to keep their mouth
shut. That know the bigger picture, that don't sell out their friends," she
said. "Everything passes, they know if they screw up, they're not coming up on
the next vacation, I'm not gonna babysit their kids ... I will cut them. I will
take them down ... I have friends and family that are filled with massive
amounts of integrity. It shouldn't be an oddity." Meanwhile, Jesse James has gone public with a new tattooed lady. After yes-they-are, no-they-aren't reports, James and reality TV star Kat Von D were spotted -- and photographed -- holding hands and kissing on the street during a romantic weekend in Texas.
The Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control is looking into Monday's incident in which Samantha Ronson's English bulldog, Cadillac, killed a tiny dog in the hallway of their apartment building. An investigation into the circumstances of the death of a neighbor's 3-pound Maltese named Tiger could lead to sanctions against Ronson, who could be prohibited from owning dogs, or against Cadillac, who could be ordered euthanized. "It's a pending criminal investigation," Deputy Director Michelle Roache of
the animal care and control department told E! News.
"The attack is substantial." Roache says the department will gather evidence, and then present its case to the district attorney.
Similar attacks have resulted in felony charges. "It's all up to the courts whether or not a person is going to lose the right
to own the dog, or that the dog be euthanized, or that there's restrictions
against the dog," says Roache. The probe, which could take two to three months, will focus on whether Cadillac has attacked any person or animal in the past. TMZ reports Cadillac has attacked another dog and he just returned home from a three-week "socialization" program. Ronson has reportedly shipped Cadillac to New York, where he is staying with her family.
Caroline Giuliani, the 20-year-old daughter of former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, was sentenced to serve one day of community service and ordered to "stay out of trouble" as penalty for a charge she shoplifted makeup worth $100.50 from a Manhattan Sephora store a month ago. The Daily News reports that Giuliani will probably mop floors and clean toilets at the Sanitation Department garage at Pier 36 on the Hudson River, the same place where Naomi Campbell and Boy George did their community service. Giuliani must complete the sentence by Nov. 4. She is due back at Harvard for classes today.
Zsa Zsa Gabor was back in the hospital Tuesday for a minor ailment, and her publicist, John Blanchette, said he was hopeful she'd be released soon. She was taken to a hospital via private ambulance after her husband. Prince Frederic von Anhalt, called 911 to say that she was unresponsive after suffering from flu-like symptoms and body pain. Tuesday morning, Blanchette said Gabor's condition had been stabilized and she was having tests. Gabor, 93, broke her hip July 17 at her home when she fell while attempting to get into a wheelchair that was not locked in place, Blanchette said. She underwent hip replacement, but has been in and out of the hospital in the past month.
