On balance, I always wish it were Christmas. So I have been getting happy over the last couple of weeks, what with all the yuletide commercials starting early. Months ahead of time, in fact! That most wonderful time of the year just got more wonderful.
Just this morning, I caught a long and tuneful promo for "The Spirit of Christmas," fast approaching -- well, it starts Nov. 19 -- at the Niagara Fallsview Casino.
And for at least -- at least! -- a month, we've been hearing the rolling and thundering of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, pictured above, coming to town exactly a month later, on Dec. 19. It starts with a deafening "Sleigh Bells" and roars into Pachelbel's "Canon."
When I first heard that commercial, way back in August, I could not believe my luck.
License to crack out the eggnog! While the leaves are still on the trees! Is this a great town or what?
By December, we're all going to be pretty tipsy.
