Daily links: In interviews, Charlie Sheen says he's 'on a drug ... called Charlie Sheen'

Charlie sheen better 2020 Charlie Sheen is talking again. In an interview set to air Tuesday on ABC's 20/20, he proclaims in his current high-speed speech, "I am on a drug. It's called Charlie Sheen." Sheen, who looks thin, talks to ABC's Andrea Canning, left, who visited Sheen and two female companions at his home over the weekend. Sheen, who is supposed to be still undergoing in-house rehab and has been feuding with the producers of his hit show, "Two and a Half Men," also said, "I have one speed. I have one gear: Go! I dare you to keep up with me." In the wake of last Friday's surprise announcement that production had been suspended on Sheen's show, he said, "There's some wrongs to be righted and some stories to tell. People need to hear my side of it." Sheen will also appear this morning in a taped interview on NBC's Today Show with Jeff Rossen. On Friday, after Sheen verbally attacked the show's producer, Chuck Lorre, in several detailed interviews, CBS and Warner Bros. issued a statement that said, "Based on the totality of Charlie Sheen's statements, conduct and condition, CBS and Warner Bros. Television have decided to discontinue production of 'Two and a Half Men' for the remainder of the season." Oh, and by the way, Sheen says he is writing a tell-all book on what went on behind the scenes on the set of the show and will take bids from publishers, starting at $10 million. He already has a title: "When the Laughter Stopped."

• • •

For the record, "Men" costar Jon Cryer was not the person who took to Twitter to say he was "shocked" over the "bad news" that the final four episodes of the show will not be taped following Sheen's verbal attacks. There may not be any new episodes next year either, because Sheen announced Friday that he wasn't planning to return for a ninth season in the fall as long as the show's production team remained intact. Cryer's spokesman said that the star has neither a Facebook nor a Twitter account, so the post was a hoax and his "no comment" comment still stands. For the record, the hoaxer pretending to be Cryer Tweeted, "It's too sad! Sorry guys, that you must hear so bad news! I'm also shocked!"

• • •

unday night's  Academy Awards offered its usual melange of elegance and roughness, ranging from the stunning red carpet looks to the f-bomb dropped on live TV by Best Supporting Actress winner Melissa Leo, the target of some snark earlier in the evening for her lacy doily-like dress. But the hosting duo of Anne Hathaway and James Franco handled the show ably, even with Franco wearing Marilyn Monroe drag. The pair were upstaged slightly by the shamelessly stalling and leering Kirk Douglas.

Kelsey grammer getting married Kelsey Grammer and Kayte Walsh married Friday in an elegant wedding in Broadway's Longacre Theater. The ceremony was performed by Terry Lavell, Grammer's costar in "La Cage aux Folles," and attendants read poems that the bride and groom had written for each another. "They looked very happy," a wedding guest told People after the ceremony, "really, really happy." After the ceremony, a small group of guests went to the Plaza Hotel for a lavish dinner in the Grand Ballroom, followed by a luxurious reception. "It was gorgeous, very classy," said one wedding guest. "It wasn't too much and it wasn't too little. They definitely did it right." Afterward, the pair cut the 55-inch-tall carrot cake and shared the story of how they met, when he was flying to see "La Cage" in London, and she was one of the flight attendants.

Michael Jackson's three children, Prince, Paris and Blanket, showed up in person with an oversized check to donate $10,000 to one of their late father's favorite charities. The youngsters, who joined the board of advisers for their father's Heal the World Foundation last year, presented the check to the L.A. Housing Corporation, a group that provides shelter for homeless families. Sources say Jackson used to take his kids to volunteer with the group. Daily links: Miley Cyrus reportedly upset, hurt and angry at Billy Ray's criticism

Billy ray and miley cyrus Billy Ray Cyrus has said he's sorry that his candid GQ interview was "explosive and unintentionally so," but Miley is upset, hurt and angry at her father's words. In the interview, Cyrus said that the "Hannah Montana" TV show "destroyed my family." In the interview, he said about his daughter, "I'm scared for her ... She's got a lot of people around her that's putting her in a great deal of danger. I know she's 18, but I still feel like as her daddy I'd like to try to help. Take care of her just a little bit, to at least get her out of danger." "Miley is upset," a source close to her tells People. "She's very hurt and angry." But a longtime pal of Billy Ray's believes he may have felt he had no other choice than to express his fears publicly: "Maybe he can't get the message of how much they mean to him across, and this is the way to do it." Miley, who recently turned 18, has refused to comment on the current drama, she has been spotted brunching with mom Tish, who is getting a divorce from Billy Ray.

Chelsea Handler won't play herself in the NBC pilot based on her autobiography, but she's doing the next best thing -- she'll be playing her older sister. Handler look-alike Laura Prepon, who will star as Handler, tells E! News that Chelsea will be playing her own older sister. Prepon says filming will start "in a couple weeks." Then it's up to the network, which will decided whether to pick up the show and order more episodes. "I hope NBC gets behind it. There's a lot of buzz. It's different and edgy." While Prepon admits she hasn't read Handler's books, she says, "I've seen her a lot and it's going to be awesome. I am just starting to immerse myself in the Chelsea Handler of it all. She's an amazing woman."

Charlie Sheen's mystery blond girlfriend has been identified as Natalie "Natty Baby" Tenly, and her past indicates that she may not be the best influence on his sobriety. Tenly was the 2010 cover girl for the pro-marijuana magazine Cali Chronic X. Sheen left for the Bahamas on Wednesday with Tenly, who has been with Sheen for about three months, sources say, and porn star Bree Olson and his ex-wife Brooke Mueller -- at least temporarily. Sheen called The Alex Jones Show Thursday and revealed that Mueller was no longer with the group. "Let me just say this, and this is all I'm going to say about this. Where there were four, there are now three," he said. "Goodbye, Brooke. Good luck in your travels. You're going to need it. Badly." Sheen's publicist says he will return to work on the set of "Two and a Half Men" Tuesday.

• • •

Things may be a little tense on the set after Sheen's severe verbal attack on the show's creator, Chuck Lorre. After a series of amusing jabs back and forth, there now appears to be a serious personality clash between the two. Calling from his vacation getaway, where he said he was having "a grand old time," Sheen said, ""I violently hate Chaim Levine [Lorre].  He's a stupid, stupid little man and a ... punk that I'd never want to be like. ...That's me being polite." Sheen, who insists he's sober, says, "All I want is to bring my family together, and I have to deal with all this B.S. politics." He adds that Lorre "took money out of my pocket, my family's pocket, and, most importantly, my second family -- my crew's pocket." Sheen concludes, "You can tell him [Lorre] one thing.  I own him."

Daily links: Charlie Sheen '100 percent in love' with mystery blonde woman

Charlie sheen and new woman Charlie Sheen is doing great! Not only is he, as he declared on the Dan Patrick radio show, "100 percent in love," presumably with the blonde mystery woman he was spotted kissing Monday, left, but he is also involved with a second person thought to be porn star Bree Olson, who was linked to Sheen and Michelle "Bombshell" McGee. To top it all off, he rented a 100-foot yacht for a party and a private showing of "Jaws" for his ladies, including the unknown blonde and Olson, and other close friends. Sheen, who is still participating in home-based drug and alcohol rehab, spent a few hours Monday mentoring three adolescent aspiring filmmakers as part of the non-profit Los Angeles Institute of Film Education. Sheen and his pal, former baseball great Todd Zeile, worked with three youths, said co-founder Delores A. Brown. "Charlie was a surprise, a very nice surprise," Brown says. "Todd and Charlie are very good friends and Charlie spent about three hours giving the kids a private session of what goes on before, during and after a shoot."

Lady Gaga's people will not comment on theories that it was the flamboyant singer who was being wheeled around backstage at the Grammys in a translucent coffin-like box. Sources at the Grammys tell TMZ that the box, holding a blonde person, was spotted backstage right around the time Gaga finished rehearsing, and the number of handlers escorting the coffin suggested that the person inside was a star of some kind. But hours after the coffin was seen wheeling around, Gaga arrived inside another translucent conveyance -- an egglike pod.

Justin bieber haircut Two of the most famous hairstyles in the world have been altered. Justin Bieber has moved on from his iconic eyelash-grazing, sideswept coif to a shorter, slightly spiked-up style. Bieber had his hair cut on the set of a music video he filmed with Rascal Flatts; a regular hairdresser did the honors, although Gary from the group posed with scissors for photos. Bieber said he "wanted to change it up" and thinks the spikes give him "a more mature look." The hair that was cut from Bieber's head was saved and bits will be given to organizations that will use it to raise money for charity. Randy Sosin, a former executive at MTV and Interscope Records, tellls the WSJ blog, "It’s a calculated move" for Bieber to cut his hair, “His hair is not that different, he’s not changing it that much, but he’s making it more of an event. Everything he does is something." Paramount is also releasing a special fan version of his movie "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never," with some 40 minutes of extra footage. Director Jon M. Chu refused to "confirm or deny" reports that footage of the haircut would be included in the new cut. He added, "Cameras are everywhere." And Jennifer Aniston is now sporting a short bob -- a shoulder-length version of the face-framing straight look she's worn for years.

John travolta bald Speaking of hair -- John Travolta was spotted in a rare hairpiece-less moment, left, as he celebrated his 57th birthday on a beach in Hawaii with his wife and daughter. The clearly balding-on-top star enjoyed the day with wife Kelly Preston and and 10-year-old daughter, Ella Bleu, who played on the swings and enjoyed the sand. Baby Benjamin was not seen out with the family.

Alyssa Milano and her husband Dave Bugliari are expecting their first child, Milano's rep tells People. "They're just over the moon," says a friend of the former star of "Who's The Boss" and "Charmed," who is due to deliver in the fall.  "They are so excited." On Twitter, Milano said, "Yes, it's true. And we couldn't be happier. Thank you for your warm wishes and love!" Milano and Bugliari, who is an agent at the Creative Artists Agency, met in 2007 and married in August 2009.

Daily links: Paris Hilton and boyfriend spotted shopping for engagement ring

Paris hilton and cy waits As Paris Hilton settles into being 30, she's apparently thinking of settling down. After a Moulin-Rouge themed birthday party that featured a petting zoo of exotic animals and a $375,000 Lexus sports car from beau Cy Waits, she told Ryan Seacrest recently that she expects Waits to propose soon. The pair hit a luxury jewelry store in Manhattan Friday, where a source says, "They shopped for engagement rings." At Jacob & Co., the source says, "They were really cute together. Paris was making comments about the rings and joking that her ring has to be at least 24 carats." Although they did not buy an engagement ring, "She walked out sporting a $25,000 white gold and black diamond encrusted ring," the source says. On the Seacrest show, Hilton said of Waits, "It's really serious, I'm so happy, he's such an incredible person." Asked by Seacrest if Waits planned to propose, she said, "I'm sure. We really love each other." Hilton's rep told People, "The couple were shopping in New York looking for something special for Paris's 30th birthday." Waits and Hilton were arrested together in Las Vegas over the summer after police spotted a "vapor trail" of marijuana smoke coming from their Cadillac Escalade, and Waits was fired by casino mogul Steve Wynn.

Rufus wainwright and jorn weisbrodt Here's a newborn with an incredible musical pedigree. Lorca Cohen, daughter of the legendary singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen, has given birth to the child of Rufus Wainwright, who is the son of singer Loudon Wainwright III and Canadian folk singer Kate McGarrigle. Rufus Wainwright's partner of five years, Jorn Weisbrodt, seen with Wainwirhgt at left, is "deputy dad." Wainwright announced the Feb. 2 birth of his daughter, Viva Katherine Wainwright Cohen, on his website, writing, "Darling daughter Viva Katherine Wainwright Cohen was born on February 2, 2011 in Los Angeles, California to proud parents Lorca Cohen, Rufus Wainwright and Deputy Dad Jorn Weisbrodt. The little angel is evidently healthy, presumably happy and certainly very very beautiful. Daddy #1 would like to offer everyone a digital cigar and welcome the little lady in with a French phrase from his favorite folk song, 'A La Claire Fontaine,' 'Il y a longtemps que je t'aime, jamais je ne t'oublierai.' " The lyric means, "So long I've been loving you, I will never forget you." Later this was added to the post: "CORRECTION: In many of the articles announcing the birth of Viva Katherine Wainwright Cohen, Lorca Cohen is characterized as "the surrogate." Of course, she is no such thing. She did not carry the child for someone else. Lorca Cohen is the mother of the baby and Rufus Wainwright is the father."

Denise richards In a taped interview scheduled to air on "The View" today, Charlie Sheen's ex-wife Denise Richards says his public dalliances with escorts and porn stars and his drug and alcohol binges are no surprise to her. "This is Charlie's lifestyle," she said. "He makes no bones about it ... and it is what it is." Richards and Sheen were married for four years before divorcing in 2006 and have two daughters, Sam and Lola. Richards says explaining their father's actions are sometimes difficult. "This has been something I have dealt with for years...  this is not a new situation," Richards said. "There are times where his life is more colorful than others, more public than others, and as the kids get older it's a difficult thing. ... I'm learning as I go too... So I do the best I can and it's not easy." Richards says it was not her "place to judge this situation." She suggested that rather than discuss him with her, the hosts of "The View" "have him on the show and get into the details of what's going on."

Five browns The father of the musical group The 5 Browns, left, entered surprise guilty pleas Thursday to sexually abusing three of his daughters when they were children. Keith Scott Brown, 55, was charged last week with abusing Desirae, 32, Deondra, 30, and Melody, 26, all members of the Julliard-trained classical music quintet. The women had chosen to be identified in court papers. In court in Provo, Utah, Keith Scott Brown showed injuries he suffered Monday, four days after he was charged, when he crashed the Porsche in which he and his wife, Lisa Brown, were riding by plunging over an embankment into a creek at high speed. Brown pleaded guilty to sodomy on a child under 14, and two charges of sex abuse of a child, all felonies. He will be sentenced March 31 and faces 10 years to life in prison, but as part of the deal worked out with prosecutors, the sentences are expected to run concurrently. Brown formerly managed his children's musical group, but has not since 2008. Sources told the Salt Lake Tribune that his daughters called police after learning that Brown planned to again manage child musicians. In a statement posted on their web site before the guilty pleas, the siblings thanked supporters "for their concern and prayers on our behalf during this trying time."

Serene branson Her doctor says a "complex migraine," not a stroke, is what caused veteran CBS 2 TV reporter Serene Branson to start speaking in gibberish Sunday night during a live Grammy telecast. UCLA Medical Center's chief of neurosurgery Dr. Neil Martin, Branson's doctor, told the Los Angeles Times that this unusual type of severe headache can mimic strokes, with symptoms including weakness, loss of vision and difficulty speaking –- but its effects are not long term. One theory is that the brain's blood vessels suddenly narrow and then dilate again. During the spasm phase, certain parts of the brain receive too little blood, causing the stroke-like symptoms. Branson was driven home by a friend and consulted her doctor. By the next day, she was feeling better and said she hopes to be back on the air soon.

TMZ reports that Berry offered to get Aubry a fancy hotel room, but he responded, "Why do I have to follow her?  She can leave [Nahla] here." A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge ruled Wednesday that Berry could take the baby with her. Berry, who gave up a role as a caterer in the film, "New Year's Eve" to battle Aubry in court over custody issues, was offered the role of a nurse in the movie and is expected to leave in two weeks.

iConfess

Confession I have an appetite for apps. I have the Lose It! food diary app, the All Recipes Dinner Spinner app, a Footsteps app that acts as a pedometer, the Steinway app that acts as a metronome, you name it.

So when I heard about the new Catholic Confession app, I stepped right up to the booth!

Well, not the actual confessional, not yet. It has still, I am ashamed to say, been three months since my last Confession. On the plus side, though, three months was more than enough time to accrue a sufficient number of sins with which to test this app and get my $1.99 money's worth.

What is this app like? I will tell you.

The first thing is you have to choose a password. This was stressful, I have to say. What if someone hacked into my iPhone and found this app? If you are using the app correctly, it would contain more than a few secrets of your soul. So I chose wisely, a bunch of letters and numbers.

Next, the app quizzes you as to your Vocation. Are you single, married, a priest, a nun? Then you get a hilarious announcement. "Creating Your Custom Examination of Conscience. Please wait."

What the app does then is, it takes you through the 10 Commandments so you can check to see in what ways you have violated them. There is no question that you have violated them. Here is where the app shines. It delves beneath the literal and points out the rainbow of ways there are to be in error!

For instance, the first commandment: "I am the Lord Thy God, thou shalt not have strange gods before me." I'm fine with this one, you think. I'm not worshiping a golden calf, right?

But then comes the bad news. The app throws sins at you, with boxes you check.

"Do I not give God time every day in prayer?" Uh....

"Do I not seek to surrender myself to God's Word as taught by the Church?" Surrendering to anything has never been my strong suit.

"Have I been involved with superstitious practices or have I been involved with the occult?" What about that ghost-hunting tour of the Central Terminal? Better check that box.

And this is only the first commandment! There are still nine to go!

At the end is a space where you can add your own custom questions, in case there is anything they have missed. Did I drink too much wine? Did I kvetch to my co-worker? Things like that.

Hahahaa: "Click the Edit button to add or remove custom sins." I like that.

Then you get the screen for the Confession itself. I guess the idea is to carry this thing into the box with you. It tells you what to say: the Sign of the Cross, and then, "Father, it has been three months since my last confession." I forgot to say, it asks you when you sign on how long it has been.

Then there is a page headlined simply "Sins." You write your sins here so when you go into the confessional they do not all go flying out of your head.

When you and the priest are through hashing over your list, you hit "Next" and you can choose from a variety of Acts of Contrition. I clicked on Latin. I have never recited the Act of Contrition in Latin before in my life. Next time I go to Confession, I just might! Plus it would make me feel I got my money's worth from this app.

With which, the question is, is this app worth $1.99? It's probably nothing you could not do with a piece of paper and a booklet on the 10 Commandments. The only app feature I have not mentioned is a list of prayers. There are just seven of them, such as the Glory Be, the Hail Mary, the Hail, Holy Queen and the Memorare -- stuff I already know.

Well, on the bright side, pardon the pun, the app lights up in the confessional.

In the end, I think of it the way I think of shelling out for my Zumba clothes. Confession is a little like the gym. Whatever helps get you there is money well spent.

Daily links: Billy Ray Cyrus says 'Hannah Montana' show 'destroyed my family'

Billy ray cyrus In an angy, candid interview with GQ, Billy Ray Cyrus, whose marriage has failed and whose daughter has been involved in scandals since she was 15, says the "Hannah Montana" show "destroyed my family." He told GQ, "I'll tell you right now — the damn show destroyed my family." Cyrus said he regrets the decision to let Miley star on the show and would not do it again. "I hate to say it, but yes … I'd take it back in a second," he said. "For my family to be here and just be everybody OK, safe and sound and happy and normal, would have been fantastic. ... I'd erase it all in a second if I could." Cyrus also says that each time Miley was involved in a scandal, her handlers pushed him into the spotlight to show that "Daddy endorsed this stuff." He says, "Every time something happened in Miley's career, every time the train went off the track, if you will — Vanity Fair [a suggestive photo when she was 15], pole dancing [at the Teen Choice Awards when she was 16], whatever scandal it was — her people, or as they say in today's news, her handlers, every time they'd put me … 'Somebody's shooting at Miley! Put the old man up there!' ... They used me every time." Cyrus says he didn't attend Miley's 18th birthday party because it was held in a bar. "It was wrong," he said. "It was for 21 years old and up. Once again, they all wanted me to fly out so that then when all the bad press came they could say, 'Daddy endorsed this stuff…'" Five days after her party, Miley was videotaped smoking the hallucinogenic herb salvia. Cyrus says, "I should have been a better parent. I should have said, 'Enough is enough — it's getting dangerous and somebody's going to get hurt.' I should have, but I didn't. Honestly, I didn't know the ball was out of bounds until it was way up in the stands somewhere." Now, Cyrus says, "I'm scared for her. She's got a lot of people around her that's putting her in a great deal of danger."

Frankie Muniz's girlfriend told police he put a gun to his head "possibly with the intent of committing suicide" and punched her during a fight Friday night in their Phoenix home. Elycia Turnbow told police that the pair were arguing about "prior relationships" when the former "Malcolm in the Middle" star "grabbed a gun and held it to his head, possibly with the intent of committing suicide." Turnbow says she became worried and called one of Muniz's pals to take him to the hospital. But Muniz says Turnbow was screaming at him when he "fell and hit his head," which was the reason he went to the hospital, where he left before being treated. Muniz told police, "I grabbed the case, but not the gun ... it isn't even loaded." Police say they found and impounded the semiautomatic, which was loaded. After Muniz left he hospital and returned home, the pair began fighting again. Turnbow says Muniz "punched her in the back of the head, and threw her into a wall." Muniz denied punching Turnbow, telling police, "I love her too much.  She is the woman I want to marry." Police said there were no visible injuries, and both parties were warned they'd go to jail if they began fighting again. Tuesday, Muniz's rep released a statement that says, "A gun played no part in the argument and was voluntarily given to the police for safekeeping.  There were no bruises and neither left the residence. He was not suicidal.  She was not assaulted." The statement says the pair are still together and are "moving forward with their lives and with their relationship."

Lara logan before attack CBS News' war correspondent Lara Logan suffered a "brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating" while covering events in Egypt's Tahrir Square after President Hosni Mubarak left office, according to the network. CBS News said in a statement that Logan, 39, was in the mob in the square, as seen at left, when "she and her team and their security were surrounded by a dangerous element amidst the celebration. ... It was a mob of more than 200 people whipped into frenzy. In the crush of the mob, she was separated from her crew. She was surrounded and suffered a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating before being saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers." Logan was  taken back to her hotel and put on the first flight back to the United States the next morning. She is recuperating in an undisclosed hospital. Eight days before the attack, Logan and her team had been detained by Egyptian police and Logan had reported, "We were accused of being more than journalists, very frightening suggestions were being made. Suggestions that really could be very dangerous for us." CNN's Anderson Cooper abruptly left Egypt after being attacked and punched in the head while covering the demonstrations in the square.

An experienced reporter for a CBS affiliate station who suddenly began slurring her words and speaking in gibberish on a live report from the Grammys saw a doctor afterward, but the cause of the problem is still a mystery. Serene Branson looked fine when she started to give her report, but after saying, "Well, a very, very heavy," she began to make nonsensical sounds before the station cut her off. "Serene Branson was examined by paramedics on scene immediately after her broadcast," CBS 2 reported. "Her vital signs were normal. She was not hospitalized. Liz Taylor is doing much better after checking into an L.A. hospital a week ago for symptoms associated with congestive heart failure. In a statement, her rep said, "Since being admitted, there has been steady improvement in her condition, and over the weekend she has had visits from family and close friends. Her medical team is gratified by her progress to date, and it is hoped and expected that this will continue over the next few days. For now, she will remain under their care in the hospital for continued monitoring." Taylor, 78, who had heart surgery in 2009 and suffers from congestive heart failure, a chronic condition, "is sleeping and resting a lot, which she really needs to recover her strength," the star's rep Sally Morrison told People.
