Airport Plaza Jewelers -- yes, the crazy guy in the kiosk on all those commercials -- gobbled up some more TV time early this morning when it launched "The Kiosk Presents: People Inc. and the Chocolate Sale."
The new half-hour of paid-programming -- airing at 7 a.m. Sunday through Friday on WNYO-Channel 49 -- will promote a fund-raising Easter candy sale event for four straight weeks. After Easter Sunday (April 24), the program's title will change to "The Kiosk Presents: Buffalo's Best Buys" and continue to run through June 26th, with the possibility of becoming an ongoing series.
The show, produced by Airport Plaza Jewelers and its marketing division -- Leg Up Marketing -- will be hosted by owner Don Hoffman, who said that for a minimum $20 donation people will each have 30 seconds to show off their special talent, skit or original song. The show will feature interviews that showcase Buffalo-area businesses and the human services agency People Inc. Hoffman posted two rules: Keep it clean and have fun.
All of the donations will benefit People Inc., the agency that last year received a $25,000 donation from Hoffman.
"He'll be on at 7 a.m. six days a week Sunday through Friday," confirmed Nick Magnini, WNYO general manager. "It's 100-percent paid programming, no different than if Glen Campbell Chevrolet wanted to do a half-hour on cars. We would sell it to them."
"He's going to do what he wants to do with it," said Magnini. "It's no different than if I got a call from Ginsu knives. He's a good client and he wanted to do some half-hour shows so we sold it to him. He's on for 13 weeks, but it could be longer."
Auditioners can call 715-3012 to schedule an appointment. For more information, visit

Daily links: Chris Brown may not face charges after window-smashing rampage at ABC
March 23, 2011 - 12:42 AM
A source says singer Chris Brown is frustrated and angry that he can't put his past behind him. So frustrated and so angry that he smashed a window, confronted a producer in a rage, ripped off his shirt and stormed out of the building after "Good Morning America" host Robin Roberts brought up his assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna two years ago. On the show Tuesday to promote his new album F.A.M.E. (Forgiving All My Enemies), the singer became agitated during the interview when Roberts asked several questions about his 2009 assault of Rihanna. When Roberts asked about Rihanna, Brown tried to move the focus back to his new album. After the interview, Brown performed his song "Yeah 3x," then stormed off stage and retreated to his dressing room, where he removed his shirt and angrily confronted the segment producer. "The producer backed away," ABC reports. Hearing loud noises coming from the dressing room, the show's hair and makeup staff became concerned and called security. According to ABC News, "It was then discovered that a window had been smashed in Brown's dressing room. The thick glass was destroyed and strewn across the street below," falling onto the busy Times Square sidewalk at 43rd Street and Broadway. Brown was photographed as he stormed out of the studio shirtless, above. ABC News in a statement: "As always, we ask questions that are relevant and newsworthy, and that's what we did in this interview." Brown then wrote an angry Tweet: "I'm so over people bringing this past s**t up!!! Yet we praise Charlie Sheen and other celebs for their bulls**t." But he quickly deleted that post, writing: "All my fans!!! This album is for you and only you!!! I'm so tired of everyone else!! Honestly!! I love team breezy!!"
• • •
Because Brown is still on probation for the assault, a police report could cause trouble for him and even send him back to prison. A TMZ source overheard a staffer tell a glass repairman, "I have a police officer coming just to take a look at it before we do any work." E News reports that plainclothes detectives did visit the scene after seeing reports on the broken glass in the media. However, the NYPD says officers were not called, no police report has been filed and no charges are forthcoming. That's good news from Brown. "If NYPD did not respond then there is likely no basis for the California probation department to take any action," criminal defense attorney Alec Rose tells E! News. "If no court or no police are involved then the property damage would be a private matter between himself and ABC."

Attorneys for Dr. Conrad Murray's lawyers have filed legal documents accusing Michael Jackson's longtime friend and doctor, Dr. Arnold Klein, of getting Jackson addicted to Demerol and another narcotic. In what TMZ calls "blistering legal docs," Murray's lawyers claiming Klein, a dermatologist, fueled Jackson's drug dependency; Klein's own documents show that he gave Jackson some 51 Demerol injections in the final three months of his life, including 11 over three days in April for minor procedures, including Botox, wrinkle fillers and acne treatments. The Murray documents say, "Due to Mr. Klein's actions, Mr. Jackson became physiologically and psychologically dependent on Demerol." Murray's team wants Klein to produce all Jackson's medical records, writing, "Dr. Klein is a relevant and highly material witness to the defense."

Charlie Sheen and ex-wife Brooke Mueller were both tested for recent drug use on March 11 as part of their custody settlement. Sources close to the couple first revealed that Sheen passed, which clears the way for him to see his twin sons, Max and Bob, 2, with a monitor present. Sources also say that Mueller tested "100 percent clean" as well.

After months of rehab, Demi Lovato back to work, although she's being coy about what she's actually doing and where. "First day back to working," she Tweeted Tuesday morning. "I can't wait to share with you guys what I'm doing today." But it seems as though she has not returned to her Disney hit, "Sonny With a Chance." A rep for Disney told E! News, "Demi's management will inform us when she is ready to return to work. As you know, last November, we announced that we would focus on our 'So Random' sketch comedy show (the show within 'Sonny With a Chance') to keep the staff, cast and crew employed. We began production in January and will debut those episodes this spring." Lovato, who has been keeping a low profile since leaving rehab in January, released a video message to her fans two weeks ago in which she said, "I can't wait to tell you guys what the future holds."

What celebrities are wearing: Dots!
March 22, 2011 - 10:06 AM
It must be spring because polka dots are popping up everywhere.
Actress Kate Winslet wore a slim-fitting dress with dot detailing to the "Mildred Pierce" premiere in New York Monday. One observer called it "a showstopper."
Last week, "Glee's" Naya Rivera stepped out in a white blouse and skinny black pants accessorized with a floppy, black-and-white polka-dot bow tie and turquoise platform shoes.
And we also came across a photo of Spanish actress Esmeralda Moya wearing a super-cute dotted spring dress at a Giorgio Armani and Vogue party in Madrid.
Take a look, beginning with Kate Winslet:

Skins
Whether you admire this teen soap … based on a British hit … for its frank portrayal of
sexuality and other edgy issues or consider it borderline kid porn, you've got to give MTV

avoidant behavior of skittish advertisers, the channel vowed to run the first season in full,
and it did. That season concludes tonight with "Eura; Everyone." (MA)

Daily links: Lindsay Lohan reportedly closer to accepting jail term in necklace theft
March 21, 2011 - 12:29 AM
Wednesday is decision day for Lindsay Lohan to either accept Judge Keith Schwartz's offer of a plea deal in the felony theft of a necklace from a jewelry store, or go to trial. Sources tell TMZ that Lohan's confidence is starting to wane and she is seriously considering accepting the deal, although she has been told it will include three months in jail. The term will likely be reduced to 19 days because of jail overcrowding. Sources say Lohan is starting to realize that she will not be able to avoid jail and is "seriously considering" the plea deal, although she has insisted that she would never take the plea deal because she feels she did nothing wrong and simply "borrowed" the necklace. Sources say Lohan is beginning to understand the risks of going forward with a trial, which could result in a sentence of more than a year in jail for the probation violation, along with time for the felony grand theft. Her attorney, Shawn Holley, shown above with Lohan, must inform the judge on Wednesday of Lohan's decision, and Lohan will be back in court on Friday to begin whichever process she chooses. Lohan is accused of felony grand theft in the removal of a one-of-a-kind necklace worth $2,500 from Kamofie & Co. on Jan. 23.

Daily links: Sheen reunites with 'goddesses' as porn star linked with him tries suicide
March 16, 2011 - 12:12 AM
Charlie Sheen has both his goddesses back. Rachel Oberlin, who uses the name Bree Olson in her porn star career, has moved back into Sheen's Los Angeles home. He Tweeted the photo at left of the trio with the caption, "Told ya she'd be back... jealous face much?" Oberlin, at left in the photo, departed the house earlier this month to answer DUI charges in her home state of Indiana stemming from a car crash in early February in Fort Wayne after which police said she registered .19 on a Breathalyzer. "She was gone for eight days handling personal matters back home in Indiana, but she landed in L.A. [Monday] night, and has since been back at Charlie's," says the Foxxx Modeling agent for Oberlin. On Sunday, Oberlin Tweeted, "Heading back to Cali soon …" Oberlin and Sheen had one argument, after which she left the house he also shares with Natalie Kenly, but soon returned. "Everyone is happy and good," Oberlin's agent says. "Bree and Charlie had one spat, and it was the one he Tweeted about awhile ago. Since then, they've all been fine."

The porn star whom Sheen paid $30,000 to party with him during a days-long bender in January that ended up with him in the hospital was hospitalized herself in a Chicago psych ward after a suicide attempt and/or publicity stunt, police say. Kacey Jordan, left, was hospitalized Monday night in Chicago after police found her sitting on her bed in her room in the Peninsula Hotel with cuts on her arms, surrounded by prescription pill bottles, broken glass and alcohol. Her worrisome tweets included one that said, ""those 16 hours i was with charlie sheen … messed me up." Although she reportedly told police that the tweets she posted were a publicity stunt, she did seem dazed and grabbed a corkscrew bottle opener and tried to run out of the room and cut herself when police arrived. Jordan was taken to a nearby hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. A Chicago Police Department spokesman told E! News that officers responded to a "well-being check" at the Peninsula Hotel and the victim, who police refused to name, was taken to a nearby hospital. Jordan tweeted about drinking bourbon and using cocaine and as the day progressed her tweets became more and more alarming: "i took a bunch of pills...drank a hotel size bottle of jack... stumbled to the bathroom to weigh myself.........86 lbs" After thanking her Twitter followers for alerting the hotel and police, Jordan tweeted, "I'm Sooo bored in this hospital bed! I wanna have someone save me..."

The "Celebrity Apprentice" feud between Lisa Rinna -- booted out on the last episode -- and Star Jones has entered the realm of real life, and may soon wind up in a courtroom. Jones says she has been harassed and targeted by Rinna's "foul" tweets and emails for months. (The show began taping last fall and all but the live finale is completed.) Jones has handed over tweets and emails from Rinna to NBC's legal department, complaining she is being "harassed," according to a source. No comment yet from Rinna, who has since deleted the offending tweets, including the one at left in which Rinna poses with a monster mask and writes, "Great shot of me and Star Jones!!!! " Saying that such attacks were "evidence of [Rinna's] instability," Jones also got lawyers from The Trump Organization and from Mark Burnett Productions involved in her case. NBC declined comment, and lawyers for Trump and Burnett did not return calls from E! News. A source says, "Star is taking this very seriously."

Comedian Gilbert Gottfried has apologized for making light of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami, but he is out as the Aflac duck and a search is on for a new voice actor for the long-running ads. "I sincerely apologize to anyone who was offended by my attempt at humor regarding the tragedy in Japan," Gottfried, who has been the voice of the duck since 2000, said in a statement after deleting the dim-witted tweets. "I meant no disrespect, and my thoughts are with the victims and their families." Aflac's Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Michael Zuna issued a statement Monday saying, "Gilbert's recent comments about the crisis in Japan were lacking in humor and certainly do not represent the thoughts and feelings of anyone at Aflac." But Howard Stern says the firing was unjustified -- because Gottfried is known for his tasteless jokes.
