CICERO -- It was a Section VI sweep in the discus today with Lancaster's Melissa Kurzdorfer (158 feet, 1 inch) taking first in Division I and Cleveland Hill's Taylor Eldridge (131-7) winning gold in Division II at the track and field state championships at Cicero-North Syracuse.
Kurzdorfer has bigger fish to fry Saturday where she'll gun for the state record in the shot put. Her coach said she has been throwing over 50 feet in practice. The state mark is 49-8 1/2 set by Cheryl Klein of Bellport in 1984.
